How do I publish my site via Web Deploy in WebMatrix?

WebMatrix makes it easy to publish your website to the hosting server. Follow the simple steps below to publish your site via Web Deploy which is the Microsoft preferred method for publishing your website.

1. Enter the WebDeploy details as found in your “Getting Started” email which you received when you sign-up for hosting service.
2. Click the “Validate Connection” button to verify all the settings are correct.
3. Click the “Publish” button to continue.

The first time you publish or when you add new features or functionality to your website WebMatrix may ask you to test the compatibility of your website with the hosting service. It is safe to click “Yes” so you will be informed of any foreseeable problems with your site before you publish. If you do not see this pop-up box please just continue with the steps below.

Click the “Continue” button. If you did not see the Publish Compatibility pop-up from the previous step you will not see this window either.

WebMatrix will evaluate the files on your local copy of your website and the files on the hosting server to determine which files need to be published.

WebMatrix will list the actions it is going to take while publishing your website. If you do not want one of the actions to be completed uncheck the check box next to the file name.

While WebMatrix is publishing you will see a yellow bar at the bottom of the WebMatrix application that will tell you “Publish: Started” and “Publish: Uploading” as it completes the publishing tasks.

When WebMatrix displays the “Publish: Complete” message in the yellow bar your site has been published to the hosting server successfully!
