HOWTO: perform a remote reboot via command line [duplicate]

1. Log onto a Windows machine

2. Open up a command prompt and use the following syntax

shutdown /r /m \servername.appliedi.net

This will send a remote reboot command to the host you’ve specified.

If the user you are logged in as does not match the server’s admin user or password; open up a network share to the remote server you are trying to reboot.

Put in the admin credentials for the remote box once it asks for authentication and next time you run the shutdown command against that server you will have granted access.
