Becoming familiar with File Manager

Plesk 12 File Manager series

2. Becoming familiar with File Manager

This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to Plesk’s File Manager.

Now let’s learn how to get around in File Manager, and some of the things you can do.

File Manager is a tool that provides a set of management functions through the web interface.

You will see a list of directories in your account on the left…

… and whatever directory is selected on the left, it’s contents will be displayed on the right.

You can click the "plus" sign to expand a folder…

… and you can click a folder name on the right to drill down further and see its contents.

Contents of a folder are made up of folders or directories…

… as well as individual files.

File Manager is a great alternative to using a third party FTP client.

From here you can perform such tasks as uploading or creating new files or folders, copying or moving files or folders, or altering file and folder permissions.

We will get into these tasks in detail in the following tutorials.

This is the end of the tutorial. You should now be more familiar with File Manager in Plesk.
