SSL for
Sharepoint is an offered feature. Please note that there are a number of
issues regarding the use of SSL with Sharepoint:
1.
Multiple file uploads do not work
2.
Search does not work
3. Content
editor webpart does not work
We continue
to work with Microsoft and have made some progress further characterizing the
issues. What has emerged is an apparently contradictory series of facts
articulated by Microsoft documentation:
1. Host headers are Microsoft’s prescribed means of hosting Windows SharePoint
Services (WSS) sites.
2. Microsoft supports SSL encryption for hosted WSS sites.
3. In order for SSL to work with host header WSS sites, SSL encryption must be offloaded
to a firewall or other network device.
4. Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA) is Microsoft’s premier firewall
solution, and it supports SharePoint and SSL offloading.
5. In some cases, ISA does not correctly translate between HTTP and HTTPS when
performing SSL offloading for SharePoint.
6. In order for certain SharePoint features to work with SSL offloading,
appropriate alternate access mappings must be in place.
7. Microsoft does not support alternate access mappings with host header WSS sites
