Our Windows 2003 servers can run just about any CMS application out there. There's several flavors of CMS out there including ASP based Dotnetnuke, Kentico, Community Server, and PHP based solutions (still fully compatible with our servers) like Joomla! (formerly known as Mambo), Word Press, and PostNuke to name some. All of these CMS's each have their own way and style of doing things, but what they all have in common is that they're designed to help you with creating and maintaining a website. Many of these CMS are free or the cost is low, and therefore they make a great solution for a website designer to quickly create and edit a website with little or no experience with code. CMS seperates web design, code, and content so people are able to specialize in one area.
Most CMS applications will come with your basic blog or news editing section, a media gallery of some kind, some basic web forms, banner/advertising management, and an administrative back end. Through the use of plug-ins or modules, you can usually install anything else you desire for your website, including forums, an e-commerce store, a file repository, and other community building options.
